We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting and diverse working student position in the field of AI-based localization and autonomous driving. Our team develops innovative functions that enable intelligent vehicle behavior, supporting the entire development process—from early-stage research to series production. You’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative environment where cutting-edge technology meets real-world application.
What awaits you?
- You will support a large team of senior software engineers throughout the development process from research to series production.
- Furthermore, you help to enhance our localization software that fuses HD maps with sensor data for centimeter-level positioning accuracy.
- In addition, you contribute to the use of AI-based methods that improve autonomous driving functions at SAE Level 2+ and 3.
- Moreover, you will assist with automation scripts, generating training data, developing and testing new concepts, and evaluating alternative approaches.
- You will gain hands-on experience with real-world data sets and support data preparation, analysis, and visualization for algorithm development.
- Furthermore, you help to foster collaboration within an agile LeSS framework and benefit from flexible working options.
- You will support the team in knowledge exchange and continuous personal growth.
What should you bring along?
- Studies in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, mathematics or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python; experience with C++ is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Linux environments and confidence in handling them.
- Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and mathematical principles, especially transformer architectures.
- Knowledge of statistical methods and data visualization, combined with a data-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with cloud services; hands-on experience in AWS SageMaker and S3 is an advantage.
- Background in robotics, control engineering, or driver assistance systems is a valuable advantage.
