The Role:
The Material Control Lead is responsible for working with and providing direction to a mid-sized team of contract employees within the material and production control departments. Key responsibilities include overseeing transportation logistics, inventory management, and performing tasks directly related to support material record balances and resolve discrepancies and payment issues.
This role involves a variety of administrative and technical tasks, requiring decisions made within established practices, standards, and policies. The MCL will operate under general supervision while exercising a high degree of independent judgment.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Manages the material flow process through banks, buffers and visual inventory controls
- Manage buildouts during model year changes and major launches
- Ensures correct inventories for assembly material
- Supports BPD / Scorecard achievement
- Manages annual physical inventory / plant cycle counts / high precision cycle counts
- Internal Controls compliance for their functions
- Administers the LLP process
- Supervises 3rd party Logistics provider
- Trains and develops people
- Enforces adherence to standardized work, developing standardized work documents as required
- Resolves numerous issues dealing with suppliers, supplier contracts or buyer related problems
- Follow-up on problem solving initiatives related to stock discrepancies
- Coordinates material activities surrounding a plan for every part for MVB and all launch activities
- Interfaces with Central Office allocation on part issues as required
- Maintains ISO standards
- Implements, monitors and maintains GMS elements (Short Lead Time SME); supporting SLT implementation activities
- Investigates supplier claims of unpaid bills; duplicate receipts; non-standard receiving issues;
- Is responsible for the coordination of Material systems and modules
- Supports critical material flow systems such as STMS, PPS and EPS
- Performs a daily audit of record adjustments including MR/DR reviews
- Responsible for stock / record balance accuracy
- Ensure GM inventory and capital investment is protected
- Develop and implement cost savings projects
- Ensure total cost perspective is utilized
- Drive root cause initiatives and countermeasure closure
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3+ years of Supply Chain experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials and Structure
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
- Ability to work overtime as needed (daily / weekend to support production requirements)
- High level analytical ability where problems are complex
- High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization
- MGO experience required
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 5+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience working in a plant directly supporting plant floor manufacturing operations (previous experience as a group leader in supply chain)
- Proficient in MGO A Inventory control and scheduling screens
- Working directly with / supporting 3rd Party operations
- Experience in managing individual contributors
- GMS and BPD experience
- Knowledge of quality control procedures
