The Role:
The Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) Build Factory department provides shared services to support development and delivery of our key embedded controls. Our responsibilities include architecture for software, quality, and safety design, as well as process leadership, quality assurance, software Integration, and release. We are seeking an Engineering Group Manager in Software Deployment and Release. This role supports products across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs), including Battery Systems, Thermal Management, Charging, ETRS, PHEV, and Body Controls. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Product Teams and Suppliers to ensure software deployment and release align with program milestone timelines. Additionally, this individual will work cross-functionally with other domains, such as Engine, Transmission, Electrified Propulsion, and Vehicle Dynamics—to foster collaboration and prevent siloed processes.
In this people leader role, as well as having responsibilities for Software deployment and Release, you will help develop and lead strategic action plans to support business goals for our future as we reinvent ourselves from auto manufacturer to a tech company!
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Ensure product integration and release plans are created and executed in adherence to engineering standard work.

Enable empowered teams to deliver first-time-quality within an Agile framework.

Guide the team in authoring of comprehensive execution plans to assess software products at different system levels and identify software anomalies, missed requirements and performance issues early in the development processes.

Proactively collaborate with all involved stakeholders and prioritize build requests

Connect with downstream users of builds to confirm initial build quality.

Consult with Technical Experts to remove roadblocks for time critical builds.

Develop a team that can provide expertise and guidance to identify and resolve software problems.

Guide the team’s knowledge base so common software errors, corner case situations and other learnings can be retained and shared.

Lead and support continuous process improvements, best practices, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives.

Train, coach, mentor team members in areas of strong competency
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, and Systems Engineering

Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, calibration, and/or related hardware

Minimum 3 years of Deployment and Release experience for embedded controls design and development

Demonstrated critical thinking/focus on failure modes and securing the safety of the entire vehicle

Demonstrated results in successful project execution

Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction

Demonstrated ability to "Deal with Ambiguity" while driving timely decision making

Demonstrated ability to “Be Bold” and “Win with Integrity” when considering safety factors for launch readiness
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration

10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, calibration, and/or related hardware

Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for integrating, releasing embedded control systems or related hardware

Demonstrated ability to achieve results through effective teamwork, lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion, and manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results

Prior experience in propulsion or vehicle dynamics domains
