As a Race Systems Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to be involved in the operation, support, and development of critical IT systems that allow the FIA to manage elite motorsport. You will be part of a team responsible for essential functions covering Race Control, Stewarding, and the Technical Scrutineering Team.
You will be at the center of the action, ensuring the efficiency and robustness of the systems that safeguard the integrity and fairness of racing at the highest level. You will report to the Single Seater Head of Information Systems Strategy.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT & SERVICE PROVIDER COORDINATION:
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the continuous development of FIA trackside IT and race management systems.
- Develop and maintain system architecture documentation and FMEA analyses of current trackside IT infrastructure.
- Work closely with FIA F1 service providers to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Monitor and report issues related to FIA infrastructure and communication links.
SYSTEM MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS:
- Ensure the proper functioning, management, and monitoring of the FIA Competition Management Platform.
- Develop expertise in track-based and remote infrastructure and systems architecture.
- Become proficient in the use of all systems and clients.
- Support the Remote Operations Centre, both remotely and in person as needed.
STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT & SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT:
- Provide daily support to FIA systems users, including F1 teams, officials, and stewards.
- Guide F1 teams and third parties in using FIA systems and accessing relevant data.
- Test new software releases prior to deployment and coordinate the distribution of necessary updates.
PROFILE:
- Proven experience in operating complex IT and software systems in motorsport, gained from working with F1 Teams, Motorsport Promoters, or Motorsport IT suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of motorsport operations and the specific requirements of IT systems deployed in such environments.
- Proficiency in MS 365 core applications, Adobe Acrobat, and video conference systems.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage critical situations in real time.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Fluent English
This role requires travel, including attendance at a minimum of 12 FIA World Championship events (either on-site or at the FIA Remote Operations Centre), plus additional travel as needed.
