Work Arrangement
On Site: The successful candidate will be expected to report to our automotive assembly plant in Lake Orion, Michigan, five times per week, at a minimum. The position may require local travel to a Value-Added Assembler facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan on an as-required basis.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring that vehicle components and systems meet stringent quality standards before integration into final assembly. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments—including engineering, production, and supplier quality to identify, resolve, and prevent quality issues.
What You'll Do
- Support implementation of GMS BIQ requirements to ensure product quality and reliability
- Develop and/or enhance standardized work for quality operations
- Adhere to and promote site safety protocols
- Validate compliance to PCPs, TEBs and BoOs to improve process controls and standardized work procedures
- Participate in quality audits and reviews as necessary (i.e. BIQ, internal assessments)
- Participate in Change Management and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Document and communicate lessons learned and emerging issues
- Support launch activities for new vehicle programs
- Attend cross-functional meetings and quality reviews
- Help implement best practices for quality assurance across teams
- Ensure products comply with industry standards, regulations, and internal quality benchmarks
- Support/conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ensure ISO or other regulatory compliance (including export compliance if applicable)
- May have supervisory oversight of represented employees performing torque checks
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering
- General knowledge of print: reading, interpretation and part measurement
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes
- Customer-focused mindset with managerial courage
- Effective decision-making
What Will Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- Previous experience as a Quality Engineer or Corporate Auditor
- Advanced degree in engineering or technical discipline
- Experience managing teams or projects
- Red X or equivalent technical problem-solving certification
- Hands-on experience on the production floor
- ISO/IATF experience
- Torque management or systems knowledge
