Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Market Rep position is to implement American Honda’s retail network strategy in the respective Region; therefore, optimizing dealership representation and ensuring the strongest and most successful Dealer network.
These responsibilities include the review and evaluation of Dealer proposals for buy/sells, ownership/management changes, new facilities, and relocations. This position entails frequent Dealer meetings/consultations regarding underperformance related to sales, customer satisfaction, market share, and retention. It also oversees written correspondence for these deficiencies.
Other responsibilities include facilitating the Region open point process, tracking/enforcing dealer commitments (LOI’s), market study recommendations, supporting dealer profitability, and ensuring timely financial statement transmissions that meet AHM’s capital requirements.
The Assistant Manager – Market Rep is also expected to support the activities of both the Zone Sales Manager and the Assistant Zone Sales Manager in their efforts to achieve both Zone and National goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the buy/sell and open point processes
- Selling of the Acura & Honda brand vision and procurement of dealer investments for facility image renovations and expansion
- Evaluate and oversee all package preparation for ownership/management changes and facility proposals
- Collaborate with National Market Rep team, Zone team, and dealer as necessary on issues related to representation, including: signage, LOI’s, facility improvements, and all other dealer applications to ensure conformity to AHM standards
- Coaching DSMs and improving the field force
- Convince poor-performing dealers to either re-engage with the brand or exit
- Provide financial statement analysis and consultation regarding dealer profitability and capital concerns
Qualifications, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the automotive industry
- 5+ years of experience as a proven successful District Sales Manager
- Working knowledge of dealership operations and dealership financial statements
- Experience with facility design and construction process
- Requires a high level of strategic thinking capability and business savvy to optimize the Dealer network, resulting in a positive impact on sales and market share.
- Must possess proven dealer contact skills with the ability to influence key decision makers to positively impact dealership operations, performance, and facilities
- Supervisory or leadership skills
- Excellent business writing, verbal, and presentation skills
