The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, and the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to-date in Formula 1.
We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal and hardworking team ambassadors. General Summary:
This position reports to the Procurement Director or their designee; is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for car parts procurement, with close working with Project Management Office. Also responsible for supporting the requirements of the Design Office with regard to bought out services. Proactively ensures best practices are adopted and always followed. Ensures the timely delivery of quality parts and services within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
- Follow procurement guidelines, policies and procedures, continually challenging cost, quality and lead time.
- Support the Procurement Director and their designee in ensuring individual tasks are completed in line with programme requirements.
- Be able to compile agreements with external partners ready for internal submission and review within Haas F1 and ensure subsequent adherence to these agreements by both parties.
- Responsible for supporting the project management of vendor supplied projects that may require cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience to foresee potential quality and delivery risks, with the knowledge to implement corrective actions.
- Possess the relevant engineering skills to be able to determine appropriate supplier selection, be able to competently understand the manufacturing process(es) and negotiate costs.
- Confidence to feedback to engineering any changes which could reduce the cost and/or improve the quality of supply without negatively effecting the engineering function of the part.
- Skills to audit a vendor’s capability, capacity and sustainability and the mindset to look outside the existing motorsport community for the best solution.
- Ability to offer multiple supply options and select the optimum solution per situation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parts vendors to obtain and purchase parts.
- Responsible for invoice queries and liaising with the finance department to ensure resolution.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment and products.
- Ability to support Indirect procurement activities, as required.
- Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Procurement Director or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including a relevant Apprenticeship or University Degree desired.
- 3 or more years of technical procurement experience including bought out to drawing parts.
- Experience of working in a dynamic and fast paced environment, with the ability to delivery to time critical deadlines.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Fluent Italian speaker with an excellent understanding of English language.
- Strong technical background in either engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to translate requirements from the Design Office to the Supplier for a range of commodities including composite and machined parts.
- Work to a consistently high standard in dynamic and time sensitive situations.
- Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
- Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
- A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
- A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
Equipment and Applications:
- Microsoft Office 365 suite of office products, particularly Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Power BI
- Experience on industry standard ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics 365).
- Ability to navigate PLM systems (e.g. Dassault Systems 3DX).
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
