The Role
Step into a pivotal role as an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer within our Advanced Robotics Engineering Organization, located in Warren, MI. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, pushing the boundaries of robotics technology by designing innovative electrical systems for next-generation robotic platforms. What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Design, develop, and validate electrical hardware, systems and schematics for advanced robotics applications.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical components seamlessly into robotic architectures.
- Generate detailed documentation including wiring diagrams, bills of material (BOMs), and test procedures.
- Support PCB layout, component selection, and system prototyping activities from board-to-enclosure level of integration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical systems during build, integration, and testing phases.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cost, electrical design, reliability, and manufacturability.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Demonstrated expertise in electrical system design, schematics, and documentation.
- Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits, PCB layout, PLC Control, and similar hardware component selection.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, etc.).
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing electrical systems for robotics, automation, or related industries.
- Knowledge of safety compliance standards (UL, CE, ISO 13849, etc.).
- Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative development cycles.
- Familiarity with simulation tools for circuit analysis (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams.
