Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Opening Summer of 2026, COTA’s amusement park is a 20-acre theme park featuring two first of their kind Roller Coasters and over three dozen rides.
Job Description:
The amusement ride maintenance Director is a leadership role focused on the strategic management of all aspects of ride and attraction upkeep, ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulations. This is a full-time, onsite role for COTALAND Key responsibilities include developing and implementing, preventative maintenance programs, managing budgets, leading and training maintenance staff, overseeing inspections, maintaining relationships with governing bodies, and utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track assets and performance. The role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in ride availability and guest satisfaction.

Requirements & Essential Functions:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute long-range and short-term maintenance and repair plans for all rides and attractions.
- Staff Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate maintenance technicians, fostering a motivated and highly skilled team through effective communication and performance programs.
- Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets, including controlling expenditures for parts and materials.
- Safety & Compliance: Oversee ride inspections, ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations, and maintain certifications through recognized national organizations.
- Operational Efficiency: Minimize downtime, maximize ride uptime, and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve department performance.
- Record Keeping: Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Experience with Monboro Maintenace Program is a plus.
- Inventory Management: Maintain adequate inventory levels of parts and materials to support maintenance operations.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with other departments on repairs and maintenance projects and address concerns from guests and staff regarding ride maintenance.
- External Relations: Maintain positive relationships with governing bodies and third-party inspectors to ensure timely acquisition of necessary certifications and approvals.

Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in amusement ride maintenance and supervision (five plus years is preferred).
- Strong technical understanding of amusement rides and equipment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with CMMS software and other industry tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and standards, such as ASTM and EN 13814
- Degree or certification in a related technical or mechanical field is often preferred
Physical Demand & Work Environments:
- Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
