The SRM NA Buyer is a strategic buying role in support of EV transformation in the Sustainable Raw Materials Purchasing group. The Buyer will have responsibility to execute the management of the SRM commodities, work closely with cross functional departments and collaborate with colleagues globally. The position will provide comprehensive oversight from beginning to end for all internal and external supplier partner activities as it relates to planning, strategy, sourcing, contract management, cost management, quality, and supply. Additional responsibility for developing and executing the commodity strategy, jointly with engineering & global Purchasing team. Regular reporting out to leadership.
Main Objectives
- Commodity Scope: Sustainable Raw Material Management
- Creation, implementation, maintenance of the commodity strategy (cost and technology roadmap)
- Application of best practices and lessons learned throughout all planning, development, execution phases
- Cost Models including competitor benchmarking
- Supplier Performance plans - including scope of cost, quality, supply KPI's
- Lead sourcing to ensure program timing and cost objectives are achieved
- Oversee development/ execution, along with technical teams
- Work hand in hand with key interface groups: Value Optimization, Product Development, Cost Engineering, Innovation, Business Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory Compliance, Finance, Supply Chain, and Supplier Operations
- Drive cost savings, commercial and technical
- Volume/capacity management
- Develop sourcing roadmap and raw material securitization plans
- Work with Engineering and program management to ensure the sourcing timeline is established and achieved
- Execute sourcing of new programs to meet cost, timing and quality objectives
- Develop and maintain cost models including external data points
- Issue and maintain purchase order and non-standard contracts
- Ensure there is process for directed buy components in order to ensure the cost and terms are understood and the process for ongoing management (RASIC) is defined
- Achieve cost savings through commercial and technical levers
- Ensure ongoing supply and no shortages
- Manage cost of deficiencies with supplier in terms of premium transportation or charge back
- Provides timely, relevant and actionable management reporting for commodity cost status, supplier performance, open issues and potential constraints
- Ensure development activities are on track to meet vehicle SOP
- Awareness and inclusion of all engineering changes, supplier process/performance issues, to meet program timing deliverables
- Manage the preparation of and presentation of commodity and supplier status
- Assessing program capacities, communicating the vehicle program needs so the team can properly support the program
- Providing purchasing's input throughout the various milestones of the development cycle (sourcing, launch readiness, post launch supplier issues/recognitions, etc.) to ensure a successful program
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or closely related field from an ABET accredited university
- Strong analytical skills, strong communication skills and are highly customer focused
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Strong fluency with G Suite / MS Office Suite

- 2+ years of purchasing or closely related relevant experience
