I. Assignment Purpose/Scope: What are the key objectives of the position?
The intern will be joining the central quality management team for Plant Spartanburg which is responsible for process quality management. The intern will receive on the job training centered around the development of new digital solutions to support the improvement of product and process quality. The intern will be responsible for planning and supporting digitalization projects that lead to improvement of key process indicators (KPI’s) and efficiencies within the department.
II. Assignment Qualifications: List the preferred degrees/skills for this position.· Pursuing an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related field· Able to work in Microsoft Power Platform (i.e .Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), Python, SQL.· Must be flexible, can multi-task, have a keen understanding of time management, and the ability to meet deadlines as requested.III. Assignment Duties: List the major duties/accountabilities of this position.
- Learn and work with modern software tools.
- Dealing with topics such as app programming, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
- Participate in exciting innovation projects or supervise your own projects.
- Insights into the global innovation network.
- Cooperation with various internal departments in Spartanburg and abroad as well as with external business partners.
- Exciting insights into areas of quality management.
- Exploration of new data and analytics tools (Snowflake, DART, AWS Quicksight) to optimize existing solutions.
IV. Assignment Training Plan (Technical and Process Skill Development): List any training the student will receive on BMW specific systems and processes (such as PQM, TAIS, CAMS, CATIA, etc.)Training on frequently used BMW specific tools related to Quality and Production Management such as Quality Analytics, T-Cube, PQM, GAIA, OTD Gen AI Hub, AWS QuicksightV. Assignment Development Plan: List any understanding, skills, and abilities the student will gain in this assignment.· Basic understanding of the complete Production Quality Management system. · Improve skills including verbal and non-verbal communication, collaboration, problem-solving, organization, teamwork, adaptability, and creativity.· Understanding of customer requirements and how to ensure that these can be met consistently in a dynamic and challenging production environment.· Balancing daily operational tasks while working on his project.· Hands on experience working with LLM’s and Generative AI tools.· Experience working with members of a global meeting circle.
Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.

- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
