Job Purpose
To design closure components and systems to meet vehicle performance, safety, reliability, profitability and manufacturing requirements, while crafting the envisioned multisensory experience for our customers.
Key Accountabilities
Draft engineering solutions for an assigned component / simple part (or more complex parts with supervision) and create the associated 3D layouts and data and 2D drawings using CATIA
Correlate internal contacts (i.e., testing and design departments, purchasing, suppliers, styling, manufacturing, service).
Calculate cost and weight estimates of assigned part
Work with existing suppliers to coordinate requirements, schedule activities, and address issues in a timely manner.
Prepare moderately complex documentation for review by more senior engineers
Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals. May support the project schedule, coordinate project meetings, provide regular updates and reports, and contribute in meeting the project budget and timelines.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum Experience: 0-2 years relevant experience - co-op/internship preferred
Other Job-Specific Skills: Familiarity with 3D CAD software, effective verbal and written communication
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed at a computer, some interaction in test lab, fabrication and manufacturing environments required, 5-10 hours/week overtime as needed, occasional travel.
