The intern will support the engineering team with quality and R&D topics concerning vehicle interior and exterior concepts. The role will involve researching and consolidating customer feedback for clear definition of improvement opportunities, defining use cases for US customers which must be adequately addressed in vehicle concepts, as well as researching other solutions in the market – both within and outside the automotive sector – which show a high level of customer satisfaction in addressing daily needs.
WHAT AWAITS YOU.
- Report directly to the senior engineer responsible for interior and exterior concept requirements
- Utilize available data sets from internal and external sources to define the areas of the car which are in most need of improvement
- Support the senior engineer in defining the root cause of customer dissatisfaction (i.e. technical issue, market specific use case not supported well, concept does not support US market values)
- Coordinate with dealer and customer facing personnel (colleagues from welcome call, technical service, data analytics, and others) to align US top issues with interior and exterior concepts
- Presentation of the research results and proposals for improvements will be given to the supervisor and to the engineering group.
- Benchmarking (study of publicly abvailable media as well as hand-on on benchmarking vehicles),
- Maintaining and optimizing existing tools to automaticaly evaluate results and verbatims of customer surveys using AI and traditional SW technologies
- Support IQS evaluations
- Support Welcome Call Data evaluations
- Alignment of work results with AQ departments in Munich
- Support synchronbization to other Q-Liaison-areas like drive dynamics and Infotainment
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have completed at least 60 college credits or be at least a rising Junior
- Field of study: Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Must attach a copy of college unofficial transcript
- Ability to work part-time (20-29 hours/week)
- Prior BMW Group experience (applicable to international J1 students only)
- Experience with Customer ResearchExcellent Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel
- Excellent time-management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- 6 months of availability preferred

This is a part-time internship position for our Fall Rotation, from September 8, 2025 through December 12, 2025 in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
The hourly rate for Undergraduate students is $29.90
The hourly rate for Graduate students is $36.80
