Technical Sales Specialist - Racelogic USA

As part of our growth phase, our US office in Novi, Michigan, is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Sales Associate to support our expanding business in the automotive industry, which includes working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and industry-leading R&D companies. This role will include travel both domestically and internationally, supporting trade shows, customer demonstrations and global distribution meetings.
Core Responsibilities:
Business Development: Identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with automotive customers, including OEMs, Tier 1 & 2 suppliers, and testing facilities across North America.
Technical Sales: Presenting and demonstrating the full VBOX product range to technical and commercial audiences, including GPS data loggers, video systems, and testing solutions.
Application Support: Working closely with customers to understand their testing requirements and recommending appropriate VBOX solutions for vehicle development programs.
Market Intelligence: Monitoring automotive industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging testing requirements to identify new business opportunities.
Customer Support: Providing pre-sales technical support and working with our UK engineering team to develop customer-specific solutions.
Trade Shows & Events: Representing Racelogic at automotive conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
Territory Management: Developing and executing sales strategies for assigned geographic territories and market segments.
Person Specification:
Education: Technical or Business degree with a background in the automotive industry (i.e. OEM, Tier 1&2, Aftermarket or Motorsport).
Experience: Significant experience - typically 5+ years - in technical sales or applications engineering within the automotive industry. Including experience using CRM or similar systems for key account management.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle dynamics, automotive testing procedures, and measurement systems.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive development processes, testing standards (ISO, SAE, Euro NCAP, NHTSA), and regulatory requirements.
Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-through capabilities.
Mindset: Initiative-taking and entrepreneurial mindset with focus on continuous improvement to grow our customer base and increase sales year-to-year.
Travel: Willingness to travel (25-50%) throughout North America and occasionally internationally.
Location: This is an on-site role based in the Metro Detroit area. Candidates must either currently reside in the area or be open to relocating. Remote work is not available for this position.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with GPS/GNSS systems, inertial navigation, or precision measurement equipment.
Knowledge of ADAS systems, vehicle development, or autonomous vehicle testing.
Existing relationships within the North American automotive industry.
Experience with data acquisition systems or vehicle instrumentation.
Understanding of motorsport or high-performance vehicle testing.
