We’re looking for an Electrical Race Lead to be a pivotal member of the Energy and Electrical Systems department, responsible for providing the energy systems required to run F1’s broadcast and technical operations.
You will serve as the main electrical representative at F1 race locations, overseeing installation of the electrical systems in F1’s main compounds and other key technical areas; whilst supporting various other departments with their system’s power requirements such as advising, designing, building and maintaining bespoke solutions to meet their specific needs.
Reporting into the Event Electrical Manager, you will:
Event Planning
Coordinate event delivery with other F1 departments
Work with external suppliers to define service and equipment specifications
Coordinate third party supplier delivery
Coordinate procurement and management of fuel
Support with maintenance and repair of touring equipment (season preparation works)
Oversee electrical design and build projects for touring equipment and systems
Coordinate ad-hoc freight movements of equipment for repair and stock
Oversee stock control
Oversee H&S and compliance requirements. Ensure RAMS and record keeping is up to date
Event Delivery
Oversee the delivery of electrical systems at F1's Event Technical Centre, International Broadcast Compound, Pit Wall and other key technical areas
Oversee third party suppliers’ delivery and installation of power plant and equipment
Install and commission synchronised generators
Install, commission, and monitor distribution equipment and UPS systems
Carry out testing of electrical installations and preparation of testing records, and related documentation
Oversee the installation and management of energy and environmental monitoring systems
Provide monitoring and standby support during broadcast hours and on-call support after hours
Act as point of contact for any electrical issues or enquiries that may come from F1 staff, broadcasters, promoter staff, suppliers, etc.
Support other F1 departments and partners with electrical requirements at events
Ensure electrical and H&S compliance is adhered to and records are kept up to date
Other
Support other departments with the design, build and maintenance of their electrical systems
Support on key projects
Oversee design of high-redundancy critical power systems
Support with UK Media & Technical Centre race-cover and related on-call duties
Required qualifications and experience
Minimum 6 years’ experience as a fully qualified Electrician
IET BS 7671 18th edition Wiring Regulations certification
C&G 2391-52 Inspection and Testing qualification and experience
NVQ Level 3 Electrical
BS7909 – Temporary Electrical Systems
Experience with generator systems
Critical power applications and UPS systems
