JOB TITLE: Cost Accountant
REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting
JOB PURPOSE: Cost Accountant is responsible for managing fixed assets, coordinating month-end processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and financial statement release.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversee the organization’s daily accounting functions accounting functions
- Manage the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable departments
- Work with executive team to guide the organization’s financial decisions
- Communicate regularly with (and often reporting to) the CFO
- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
- Coordinate activities of external auditors
- Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes
- Create company financial reports with the above information included
- Analyze data collected in order to determine the state of the company’s financial health
- Analyze data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue
- Examine the proficiency of the software programs used to organize data
- Generate financial reports that display the company’s profits, equity and cash flow
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Manage day to-day tasks using the following technologies: - SAP, Hyperion Planning and/or HFM – Excel and the Office suite.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required: Business Management, Accounting or equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and internal control principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments to strict deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
- Proven skills as a team member or team lead on at least one full life cycle implementation
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion is required
- Willingness to work flexible schedule and long hours when needed
