Description
Ensures the best interests of BMW are met by providing effective and efficient functional management and direction for the Customs and Export Control Team concerning customs and export control related -systems, -
technology and -projects. Ensures systems operate in compliance with all international trade and BMW internal regulations related to the company's customs and export control business together with the US and Central IT teams, the Department Head and Managers of Customs and Export Control. Keep management informed of the benefits and costs of alternatives where they exist to support the near and long-term growth and profitability targets of the BMW Group.
- Oversees and enables customs and export control systems in compliance with the laws and regulations of US agencies that impact customs and export controls. This includes providing information and training to the BMW Group US entities using sound compliance practices in cooperation and alignment with the Customs and Export Control Department Head.
- Properly prioritizes, trains, organizes, guidse and provides support for the Customs and Export Control team in the US to ensure maximum performance, including providing leadership to junior systems analysts
and BMW Group or provider/agency personnel assigned to customs and export control projects. - Supports the customs and export control governance efforts by analyzing, implementing and maintaining efficient, effective and state of the art project and global template related systems for customs and export
control related processes and ensure that all BMW entities operating in the US are fully aware and applying these systems and processes in compliance with US customs and export control regulations. - Drives efficiency and strengthens compliance by leading and supporting all relevant BMW projects and automation efforts.
- Serves as a consultant and provides necessary services to other departments concerning relevant customs and export control systems,technologies and projects.
- Leads and fosters standardization and harmonization of related customs and export control compliance operations, systems and processes within BMW.
- Supports and conducts risk assessments and quality checks to identify system and automation driven compliance concerns in related systems and functionalities and coordinate with appropriate strategic partners to
achieve their resolution. - Interfaces with various US Customs-, Export Control Authority- and Participating Government Agency (PGA) technical personnel, as well as maintains excellent working relationships regarding: issues related to
global template related customs and export control systems, interfaces and processes. - Leads, moderates, facilitates and actively participates in workshops and meetings to obtain business requirements and foster their implementation and maintenance in all customs and export control related systems.
- Creates, designs and presents business and exploration concepts and review project related documentation to determine system functionality and feasibility to determine impact on BMW.
- Acts as project manager with full responsibility for relevant customs and export control related projects and work packages, with focus on structuring and defining timelines, project scope and deliverables in
time and in budget. - Designs and reviews development requests and releases plans to determine and resolve conflicts between current and proposed functionality.
- Applies strong knowledge of general business processes for designing, developing, and testing SAP functions associated with financial, logistical, sales, customs and export control.
- Supports the Customs and Export Control team by designing, implementing, or suggesting system changes and support feature teams with implementation regarding customs and export control related processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree, preferably in Information Technology, International Business, Business Analytics, Digital Business Management, Economics, or related fields. MA/MS degree in similar field (preferred).
- 2+ years of professional experience in project management, business analytics or IT development/ design required - preferably working in both Waterfall and Agile (AWM) environments.
- 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience thinking strategically, setting direction, initiating improvements, and taking ownership.
- 2+ years of experience demonstrating analytical skills and strong systematized problem analysis techniques
- Customs Broker License (preferred).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred).
- 2+ years of knowledge of trade compliance regulations preferred.
- 3+ years of SAP skills (FI, MM, SD modules with at least 2 recent implementations preferred).
- 1+ years of SAP GTS skills using customs and export control tools (preferred).
- 2+ years of skills developing talent, training and coaching colleagues, users, or members of other departments.
- 3+ years of skills working collaboratively in an international team environment.
- 3+ years of skills working in a customer-focused environment.
- 3+ years of specific knowledge and agile tools preferred (X Ray, JIRA, Confluence).
