Summary of Position
The Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op provides students with hands-on experience in our fast-paced environment by contributing to critical engineering initiatives that drive process efficiency, quality, and production excellence. The Co-Op will support daily manufacturing operations, assist with continuous improvement projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and optimize tooling and process flow. This role offers a comprehensive learning opportunity across product manufacturing and process assembly while supporting the department’s broader goals of operational efficiency and lean transformation.
The Co-op program runs from June 2- August 15 in Torrance, CA and is full-time during that period. Must be currently enrolled in a college program in a relevant field to be considered.
Essential Duties
Support the development and improvement of work instructions, capturing accurate process details and ensuring clarity for operators and technicians.
Assist in creating, organizing, and cleaning Bills of Materials (BOMs) to enhance product documentation and ensure alignment with production needs.
Participate in RTS (Return to Stock) audits to assess inventory accuracy and ensure production readiness.
Conduct line balance time studies to identify opportunities for improving throughput, reducing bottlenecks, and increasing process efficiency.
Contribute to layout planning efforts by supporting the implementation of new workstations or production cells, ensuring optimal space utilization and flow.
Engage in tooling support tasks, including inventory control, development of new tooling concepts, and enhancement of existing tooling systems.
Utilize CAD and data analysis tools to document, visualize, and support process improvement recommendations.
Track progress and deliverables through regular supervisor check-ins, weekly status updates, and end-of-term project presentations.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to solve production challenges, provide process feedback, and implement lean manufacturing principles

Compensation The starting pay for this position is $22.00/hr. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
