The Opportunity
As the Social Media Coordinator at INDYCAR, you'll be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day social channel management across INDYCAR owned channels (@INDYCAR and @INDYNXT). Reporting to the Social Media Manager, they will be tasked with bringing the overarching social strategy to life through content development, community management, and a continual focus on engaging and growing the fan and customer base. The Social Media Coordinator will leverage a deep knowledge of publishing to major social media platforms and an understanding of how users digest and engage with social content to maximize our impact in the social space. They will be passionate about social media and content and the role it plays in the fan and customer journey.
Who You Are
- Action-Oriented – With 2+ years of related experience, you have a deep understanding of major social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, etc.) and are ready to own your role, working within a dynamic team that celebrates speed, creativity and collaboration.
- Trend Seeker - You stay current on the latest trends across the social space. You’re always looking for the next opportunity and finding ways to make them relevant to your audience and the brand.
- Insight Driven - You notice key insights from social metrics and are able to turn it into actionable progress to resonate with INDYCAR and greater motorsports fans. Ability and understanding of social analytics tools (e.g. Blinkfire).
- Problem Solver – When faced with challenging moments, you find a way to stay creative and think through practical solutions to keep moving forward.
- Detail-Oriented – You’re proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro. To you, the details matter. You have an eye for proofing and double-checking for accuracy.

A Day In The Life
- Social Content Execution - Lead the day-to-day execution of social media content strategies across all INDYCAR and INDY NXT platforms with an emphasis on driving fan engagement, audience growth, and brand and driver awareness.
- Content Creation - Create compelling content for all INDYCAR-owned social media networks, including but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Threads and YouTube for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES (@IndyCar), INDY NXT by Firestone (@INDYNXT) and affiliated platforms.
- Enthusiastic and Organized - Work with the Social Media Manager to develop and execute tactics that meet the overarching strategy to amplify the INDYCAR brand and drive fan engagement across all social media platforms.
- Performance Reporting - Monitor content and campaign performance through regular reporting to continually maximize effectiveness of content strategies.
- Collaboration - Work directly with internal creative, production, partnership and communications departments, and the series' race teams to promote events, drivers and key INDYCAR initiatives with a unified, impactful voice.
- Community Focused – Manage social listening, leading tactics to foster brand loyalty and drive positive sentiment within the community on social for the brand and its events. Includes understanding the role it plays in social media and sports fan engagement.
- Innovation - Continually identify content trends and opportunities for community building and engagement, leading the way with thoughtful ideas that drive positive series-to-fan connection and ignite passion for INDYCAR.
What To Expect
Location
Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility
- Travel is required for this position and includes attendance at approximately 10–11 events per year.
- General office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Longer hours and weekends required for the Month of May and other major racing events.
- Penske Entertainment acknowledges that the need for flexibility varies across all companies/departments and is not best addressed by a one size fits all flexible work policy.
