Team Penske is looking for a Full-Time Penske Gallery Host to create memorable guest experiences in the Penske Gallery at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum by connecting visitors with the stories, artifacts, and themes presented in the gallery space. The Penske Gallery Host will work closely with the Penske Gallery Coordinator, Team members, volunteers, and other Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum staff to ensure that the space is well monitored, engaging, and presentable. This role will require you to develop an in-depth understanding of the exhibit and museum as a whole in order to answer guest questions and facilitate conversations that will enhance understanding and appreciation of Team Penske and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Penske Gallery Hosts will also be responsible for gathering guest feedback - such as areas of interest, common questions, and observations – and report this back to the Penske Gallery Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Guest Engagement & Interpretation
- Interact with guests by asking and answering questions, getting to know them and their interests to provide an experience tailored to what they are interested in.
- Connect conversations with items on display and interactions such as the timeline to encourage guests to make their own observations/personal connections to the displays.
- Answer questions about Penske Gallery/general IMS Museum directions (such as the location of other galleries, restrooms, and the exit)
- Gallery Monitoring
- Ensure that space is clean and presentable by picking up trash/debris on the floor, clean/dust display case glass as needed, wipe fingerprints off of touchscreens, etc.
- Ensure that guests do not touch artifacts on display
- Report frequently asked questions and observations, as well as any necessary repairs, to Penske Gallery Coordinator
- Necessary Knowledge
- Develop expertise in the history of Team Penske and their performance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
- Working knowledge of the Indy 500 and IMS as a whole
- Schedule
- This is a full-time position that will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- Weekend work is required.
- After hours, evening events work will be expected as needed.
- Regular, predictable attendance for work is required at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, walk, kneel or sit for an extended period of time.
- Employee responsibilities may require working on a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Light to moderate lifting (11-35 lbs.) from floor level to an overhead position may be required.
- Employee may be exposed to moderate to heavy noise or flashing lights in certain areas.
- Must be 18 years of of age or older.
