Purpose of the job:
This role is primarily to ensure that the Metrology and calibration functions meets the needs of the business and customers requirements, ensuring any issues are escalated appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities
Responsible for overall execution and delivery of the Metrology schedule for the inspection department, ensuring the schedule is completed and any issues with it are escalated to the Quality Manager.
Responsible for ensuring that components, patterns, fixtures and any other items are measured I.A.W customer/ company requirements (tolerances, datum structures and GD&T)
Responsible for the calibration of all company equipment, within the set timescales
Ensure all relevant paperwork and admin is completed in a timely manner
Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth production of current and future work
Keeping the Metrology area in visit ready condition always
Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment
Quality and Standards
Responsible for ensuring all work is always completed to the correct quality standard (both the customer and companies)
Attend quarantine meetings to quickly identify and action fixes to arising issues
Liaising with the Quality Manager, Operations Manager, Project Managers and Senior Composites Inspector to debrief quality performance, issues, failures of process, corrective actions and ensuring any actions are followed and resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner
Ensure Metrology equipment is in good working condition and faults are immediately reported
Ensuring the calibration function (within metrology) meets the requirements of the business
Skills you will learn on the job:
Programming the measurement of items using both hard probing and laser scanning techniques
GD&T and Datum structures and how to extract these from an Engineering Drawing
Interpreting complex engineering drawings
Capable of reaching targets within a given time frame
Knows when to escalate issues to management
