To commence JLR’s FIA World Rally Raid Championship programme with the iconic Defender brand, we are looking for talented Technicians to join the team as they embark on the quest for success competing in the Stock class for Dakar 2026. As the driver’s No 1 Technician, you will ensure the car, spares and equipment are prepared on time and to the high standards expected. You’ll become part of a close-knit team and will quickly need to establish rapport and trust with your team-mates. Do not underestimate the scale of the challenge. Extreme stamina, work-ethic and extraordinary drive for results will all be key ingredients to our success. Worldwide travel is an essential part of this role and can be up to 3 weeks per event.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the team of Technicians at the factory and on event, ensuring the car preparation is to the highest standard and on time.
Ensure the car is always to the correct specification.
Perform on-event and workshop maintenance as required.
Keep the Chief Technician informed at all times of any additional work necessary on a car during build or repair.
Provide guidance, coaching and training to ensure your team are meeting agreed quality and performance targets and develop at a pace aligned with their potential.
Carry out other adhoc duties requested by the Team management.
Who are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience as a No 1 or No 2 Technician within a Rally team, with a strong ability to understand and interpret the build specification of a full car set up. You will have the ability to follow build and operational procedures accurately, be a team player and a good communicator with teammates, engineers and management. You will have a full UK driving licence. Good attention to detail is required, along with a flexible approach and preparedness to work overtime as dictated by the demands of the business.
