POSITION SUMMARY:
Join a team that is responsible for maintaining the buildings and structures of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which plays host to the World's Largest Single-Day Sporting Event, the Indianapolis 500®. This full-time position will expose you to many different projects throughout the facility and offers an unmatched opportunity to be a part of the execution and operations of our events. You will get to experience and learn what it takes to prepare the track (oval and road course) for each event!
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- With the Special Projects Sr. Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, provide support for Facilities Department.
- Track conversion, maintenance, and repair (belting, curbing, SAFER barrier, Styrofoam blocks, tarping, and tires).
- Ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Fabricate materials, including metals, wood, laminates, plastics, etc., as required.
- Apply temporary asphalt patch and concrete to areas, as necessary.
- Disassembling, installing, modifying, and repairing bike rack, cable, fence, gates, grandstands, and guard rail throughout the facility.
- Perform routine inspections of fences/gates, fuel systems, grandstands, lifts, etc.
- Installation and removal of signage.
- Help internal and external stakeholders with loading, unloading, and setup for events, as required.
- Deliver and load/unload bike racks, dumpsters, equipment, furniture, materials, packages, products, supplies, temporary fencing, and trash cans to designated locations throughout the facility.
- Support internal and external housekeeping.
- Assist with the full-facility trash route, as needed.
- Plow and/or shovel snow from driveways, parking lots, roads, sidewalks, and walkways. Spread salt to prevent ice buildup.
- In conjunction with the Operations Specialist, assist with the Flag Program: responsible for putting up and taking down flags throughout IMS as well as maintaining proper functionality of pulleys, ropes, and all hardware associated. Identify damaged or faded flags and have them sent for repairs and/or order replacements.
- Other duties as assigned by Vice President, Facilities, Sr. Director, Facilities, Sr. Manager, Facilities, Coordinator, Facilities. Due to the sometimes-unpredictable nature of being a multi-event facility, all members of the Facilities Department may be required to occasionally help with responsibilities outside their normal job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
Skills/Experience
- Minimum 3 years practical experience.
- Requires valid driver’s license. CDL preferred.
- Heavy Equipment certifications required. IMS will provide the training.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Effective communication skills, high integrity, and strong people skills.
- Innovative thinker, self-starter, and team player.

- Ability to uphold and consistently demonstrate the Penske Entertainment Standards.
Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility
- No travel required.
- General business hours are Monday – Friday, 7:15am – 4:00pm. Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
- Longer hours, nights, and weekends are required for the Month of May and other events.

- The ability to lift 50lbs.
- Constant bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, and walking.
- Constant reaching (high and low levels) and repetitive twisting.
- Pressure involving arms, hands, or wrists.
- Frequent use of heavy equipment/ladders/scaffolding.
