Purpose of the Role:

To Support the tax team in providing a first-class financial service through robust financial tax analysis.

Principal Accountabilities:
You will be part of the finance team, offering support across the business to provide analysis to make speedier reporting & decision making.

The post holder will:

Support the tax manager in the preparation of the yearly R&D tax claim, reviewing documents & ensuring the maximum is claimed.

Business partnering with the individual stakeholders in the R&D claim in order to build a robust claim.

Supporting the finance team to extract & analyse/perform checks on the financial data weekly to review for tax robustness, which feeds into various tax returns.

Compilation of routine tax activities such as PSA and P11D.

Feeding back to the finance team on improvements on processes & systems to enhance the quality of the data.

Manage the day to day data held in the system which will support reporting easily out of the ERP system.

Assistance working with the manager and other stakeholders in ensuring tax compliance, and that submissions are made which reduces our risk of penalties.

Support for ad hoc queries, as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

A desire to work with complex data and make it useable.

Willingness to want to work towards ATT or equivalent.

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of basic VAT rules (e.g. general rule for place of supply).

Ideally some experience of non-UK VAT compliance.

Able to use Microsoft programs.

Able to work with large datasets and has excellent data analysis skills, in particular the ability to spot trends and anomalies, using knowledge of business patterns etc.

Shows a willingness to ask questions and an eagerness to learn and to seek a better understanding to deliver a better service and solutions.

Experience in using ERP systems for tax codes and rules.

Communicates clearly verbally and in writing.

Reliable and presents information in an organised, self-reviewed and free from obvious error, and delivered on time.

Use of initiative – driven by a desire to find solutions.

Knowledge of basic double-entry bookkeeping.
