This role is in the Connected Intelligence Business unit. Our products have been developed from Formula One technology to provide connectivity services and analytics to a range of customers, primarily in Transportation, but also in Industrial and Motorsport environments.

Purpose of the Role
Lead the Business Development activities in Connected Intelligence across the EMEA region. The key objectives of the role are to grow product revenue and market share that beats annual financial forecast and creates scale and future revenue.
Target markets addressed by Connected Intelligence go beyond rail, including other verticals across connected transport, such as urban mobility, commercial vehicles or mining.
Location: Based in Woking (UK) or Germany, with travel as required.
Principal Accountabilities
- BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Reinforce and expand McLaren Applied's position in the rail sector across the EMEA region.
- Identify and penetrate new markets using the Connected Intelligence product portfolio.
- Qualify specific opportunities and prepare information for validation within the business line to position McLaren Applied to win.
- Respond and manage large tender, RFP and PoC requests, both from public and private customers.
- SALES MANAGEMENT
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline that both credible and transparent; meeting the required sales targets
- Update and maintain records regularly in the CRM system.
- Regularly review customer forecast and 12-month revenue projections against plan.
- Identify gaps in sales coverage and proactively cover where priority is clear.
- Own/support contract negotiation where required.
- STRATEGIC GROWTH
- Support the Connected Intelligence BU inputs to 5-year Strategic Business Plan.
- Support the successful delivery of the Connected Intelligence BU 5-year growth goals.
- Continuously monitor and analyse competitor activities within the market and our customers.
- Provide market intelligence and clearly defined customer needs to the Product and Technology teams to support the associated product strategies and roadmaps.
- Ensure McLaren Applied is recognised both internally and externally as an innovator and raise its profile as technology leader in the transport market and adjacent markets.
- Drive the attendance to key industry events and conferences
- ORGANISATIONAL ALIGNMENT
- Supporting the necessary arbitration and alignment of product features and costs with the Product Management teams.
- Initial set up of successful orders in internal systems
- Ensure coordination of marketing strategies, policies and practices with other market segment leaders, product line management and sales organizations.
Basic Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Business Development / Technical Sales role within the transport/rail sector.
- Experience in closing B2B contracts.
- Proven ability to manage sales cycles and developing a solid pipeline.
- Strong technical background.
- Experience in managing and leading public tender processes.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to internal and external executive audiences.
- Extensive customer facing experience in sales or product capacity.
- Demonstrated track record of defining differentiated technical offerings aligned with the customers strategy or challenges faced.
- Effective and proven interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in other connected vehicle markets (buses, mining, urban mobility, maritime, etc.).
- Knowledge of telecommunications.
- Engineering or Science Degree.
- European languages (German, French, Spanish).
Desirable & Development Areas
Some of the below would be beneficial to the applicant, but opportunities to develop in these areas will also be provided:
- Experience with User Interface Design.
- Experience with Redux toolkit.
- Experience with styling libraries such as styled-components.
- Experience with build tools such as Vite (react).
- Experience with GoLang and Python.
- Experience with designing, developing and creating RESTful web services and APIs.
- Experience with Time Series databases and/or MQTT.
