We have a new opportunity to be part of the Build & Car Assembly team in the role of Number One Mechanic to lead our Build and Build Composites group, ensuring seamless operations and outstanding results.
In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee mechanics and composites technicians, carry out pre- and post-event builds, and collaborate closely with our Race Team to deliver projects and service delivery for each event as required. You’ll head up all car builds, ensuring every component is race-ready, contributing directly to our mission of consistently achieving top-three status in the FIA Constructor’s Championship.
What you’ll be doing:
Supervise the daily operation of the departments ensuring workloads are efficiently distributed, providing detailed job lists for Build mechanics and Composite.
Coordinate daily plans with the RT Chief Mechanic, aligning factory schedules with staff availability and ensuring tasks are executed within timeframes to Race Team standards.
Oversee the assembly, strip, service, and rebuild of on- and off-car components, ensuring all assemblies are inspected for condition and serviceability, and signed off before shipping, reporting any assembly faults to the relevant Reliability Engineer and offering solutions where required.
Act as the key liaison between the Build Manager and Race Team, organising car builds, components, and equipment, and providing support during builds and strip-downs.
Ensure software systems (e.g., IFS/D365 and Excel build sheets) are accurately updated and used effectively for tracking.
Lead factory car builds from initial assembly to pre-season testing, assisting the Race Team with final checks and handovers.
Maintain and service Race Team pit and garage equipment during the season, supporting pre-shipping projects and equipment readiness.
Train and develop Junior Mechanics to a race-ready standard, including pit stop practice and fitness.
Collaborate with Service Coordinators and the Build Manager to manage service projects and implement new procedures and equipment as required.
Provide mechanical support during races when needed and actively contribute to ensuring assemblies meet Race Team requirements.
What we need from you:
Proven track record of team leadership and delivering measurable results required.
Experience in F1 in a similar role essential
Recent Trackside experience at a senior level essential
Ability to read and understand detailed CAD drawings essential.
To be self-motivated and to motivate others to thrive in a challenging environment.
Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales.
To communicate effectively, positively, and respectfully with all colleagues at all times

This role involves occasional travel, often at short notice, so flexibility and readiness to travel are essential.
