Position: Head of Social Media and Content
Location: Andretti Global, Indianapolis, IN
Reports to: Senior Director, Marketing
Background:
Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the Andretti Global team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E; and has collaborations in Extreme E as Andretti Altawkilat Extreme E and Australian Supercars as Walkinshaw Andretti United. The global racing enterprise boasts over 280 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, a Silver Class GT4 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race.
Purpose of the Role:
The Head of Social Media and Content is primarily responsible for leading and supporting the social and digital teams in a worldwide range of activities across Andretti’s portfolio of racing programs. This position will support the team to achieve targets and business objectives as we share our story globally.
Role Dimension:
You'll be based at our HQ in Indianapolis, Indiana, but both domestic and international travel will be occasionally requested. You'll be reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing but need to build strong relationships with people across both the wider Competition and Commercial teams. There may be some flexibility with working hours and travel required to fulfill this role effectively.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Lead strategy across Andretti’s owned social media channels, including leadership SME channels such as Michael Andretti, Marissa Andretti, and others as identified.
- Oversee a team of social managers and content producers, guiding brand principles and strategy.
- Define the social channel and communications strategy, including individual channel purpose and goals.
- Setting and ongoing management of the social tone of voice, liaising with Communications colleagues to align with the broader communications narrative and style guide.
- Using the scale and reach of social media channels to develop a strategy surrounding monetizable opportunities across Andretti’s social channels.
- Working closely with the creative department to establish and enforce social media guidelines and design graphical elements.
- Maintaining a strong awareness of algorithms and changes to the social media platforms and implementing new content and communications strategies to maximize opportunities.
- Manage the content development strategy across the global series, developing a pathway of growth and development for each.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with social channel points of contact, as well as third-party content producers.
- Have an understanding of social data tracking mechanisms and KPI development across all channels that will support the development of Andretti’s approach and continued KPI measurement.
- Lead the development and tracking of annual content and paid strategy budgets.
- Support in the development of digital marketing strategy and campaigns specifically focused on the team’s website
- Collaboration with the merchandising team to support the eCommerce strategy development with a focus on driving revenue
- Understanding of project briefs and working with team members to deliver to the job's requirements; including timelines, budgets, and formats of design projects.
- An eye for creating continuity across multiple touchpoints.
- Understanding of brand guidelines to communicate how the brand shows up internally and externally and directing these guidelines through well-articulated communication materials.
- Collaboration with communication and the sales teams to inform creative from strategy through implementation.
- Flexible hours and ability to work across multiple time zones, prioritizing their activity and internal communications.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Five (5) years of related experience in agency, motorsport, or equivalent in a fast-paced role in the sports industry focused on brand and sponsor asset creation.
- Expert computer skills including Adobe Creative suite and Microsoft Office suite of software; and familiarity with document retention and project management software.
- Must demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, independence, proactiveness, and ownership, embracing both big-picture objectives and following through on details.
- Proven ability to solve practical problems and make timely decisions by analyzing a variety of variables against desired outcomes.
- A keen eye and close attention to detail to build consistency across platforms and branded touchpoints.
- High degree of integrity and the ability to operate with discretion, confidentiality, and poise under pressure.
- Ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to travel as needed outside of regular work weeks.
