About the Role:
An exciting new role has become available for a Design Engineer within the Wind Tunnel Development Group.
Reporting to the Technology Engineering Group Leader, the successful candidate will mainly be responsible for the development of new and current mechanical projects used in a wide variety of engineering facilities, including the Wind-tunnel, Simulator, and other test facilities as well as assisting in customer projects.
Key Responsibilities:
You will have broad engineering knowledge of mechanical systems, electromechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and structural consideration in design.
You will design and develop engineering systems quickly, accurately and in a manner appropriate to ease of manufacture and assembly.
You will be generating CAD models and detail drawings of engineering systems, jigs, fixtures, etc. to a standard required for internal or external manufacture.
You will maintain CAD assemblies and update them clearly as required.
You will assist in coordination of design and manufacturing programmes and with the testing and calibration of equipment.
You will be generating innovative, practical ideas for improving the quality and productivity of the design process.
To be successful you will:
Possess an HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in F1, or an equivalent high level engineering industry.
Have experience working with Catia V5/3DX or similar on mechanical system design.
Ideally, you will have some surfacing knowledge.
Adopt a flexible approach to working hours, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team playing’ attitude.
Have good verbal and written communication skills.
Work under minimal supervision to strict deadlines and in a professional manner.
