We have a new opportunity to be part of our Finance team in the role of Cost Analyst - Engineering with the purpose of analysing, forecasting, and managing the costs associated with engineering projects and activities, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality and performance.
Responsibilities:
Partnering with Engineering department for all costing activities.
Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis of engineering projects, identifying cost drivers and owning opportunities for reduction
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for engineering projects, ensuring alignment with overall financial objectives
Cost Forecasting: Create and maintain cost forecasts (including regular forecast requirements), providing accurate and timely information to support strategic decision making within the engineering function
Process and Specification Optimisation: Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and implement cost saving measures and financial insights to proposed process improvements
Project Support: Provide cost engineering support for new product development, from concept through to implementation, ensuring that cost targets are met
Cross Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, other finance colleagues, engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated cost management across departments
Reporting: Generate regular cost reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
Risk Management: Identify cost related risks in engineering projects and develop mitigation strategies to ensure financial control.
Supplier Evaluation: Assist in evaluating supplier cost structures to ensure cost effective sourcing of materials and services
Support finance business partner with tracking of actual costs throughout the month, providing visibility of actual cost impact from specific products/projects.
Working in alignment with Cost and Value Engineers
Work with ERP development team to review and improve methods of collating and presenting cost data
Provide KPI matrix for cost targets, measuring departments performance against budget stretch reduction commitments, challenging stakeholders where necessary.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting of insourcing projects.
Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Company.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Proficiency in cost engineering processes and tools
Engineering background / motorsport / F1
Working knowledge of engineering processes, principles and methodologies and ability to convert these into meaningful financial data and insights
High attention to detail and superb analytical skills, including competence in identifying trends and forecasting costs
Ability to interpret part drawings and convert to meaningful financial data
Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks, with excellent time management skills
Well-developed organisational skills
Have a hands on practical approach
High professional standards including quality of work, accuracy and attention to detail
Calm and confident under pressure and comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI.
Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
