Position Overview:
We are looking to recruit an experienced Composite Inspector to join our Inspection team here at Williams. In this role, you will utilise various metrology skills and techniques to ensure that parts conform to the required specifications. These components may be produced using a range of methods common in Formula 1 manufacturing, with a strong focus on carbon-fibre composites.
As a Composite Inspector, your main responsibilities will be:
Ensuring that priority work is processed through the department in a timely manner.
Utilising Absolute arms (Polyworks software), including probing, scanning, and CMMs (Polyworks), to confirm that parts meet drawing specifications.
Applying your knowledge of carbon-fibre manufacturing techniques to ensure quality production.
Collaborating closely with other team members as well as departments such as Composites and Patternshop to ensure smooth workflow and high standards of inspection.
We are looking for a Composite Inspector with the following experience and skills:
You will possess a recognised apprenticeship or have relevant experience in a similar environment.
Proficiency in operating basic metrology hand tools, with the flexibility to assist in metallic quality control, is ideal.
A solid understanding of GD&T, with the ability to apply this knowledge daily.
A good understanding of carbon-fibre manufacturing techniques is essential.
A keen eye for detail to identify defects in carbon-fibre components.
An understanding of the fit and function of assembled components.
Previous experience with Absolute arms and Leica trackers (Polyworks software), including probing, scanning, and CMMs (Polyworks), is highly advantageous.
Diligence in data input for quality control systems and QA documents.
Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
A structured approach to work organisation, with well-developed time management skills.
Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and follow priorities set by the Quality Control Manager/Shift Lead.
