About the Department:
The Chassis, Bodywork and Wings Department plays a critical role in developing innovative solutions that deliver performance to our Formula 1 cars. Our team of skilled Design Engineers works tirelessly to deliver right 1st time, structurally optimal car parts, directly influencing our performance on the track.
Role Overview:
As the CBW Design Engineer post-holder, you’ll play a critical role to support the CBW Team to generate the most advanced, performant and reliable designs to agreed timeframes, optimising mass, stiffness and design for manufacture. This role offers a rare opportunity to be involved in the world of Formula 1 from an early stage in your career. Your Responsibilities:
As a CBW Design Engineer Graduate at Williams, you will be responsible for the following:
• Assisting the delivery of projects assigned, along with the Principal / Senior Engineers and Head of Department.
• Delivery of engineering designs, drawings and laminates in accordance to defined standards and procedures.
• Contribute to Research and Development projects within the department.
• Liaison with other engineers and support the wider organisation, Manufacturing, Quality, Prototype and Test, Trackside etc.
• Proactively address Faults, Manufacturing queries / feedback and other related departmental tasks
• An active role in the Vehicle Design Vision, Goals and Strategy to create a best in industry high performance design team.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:
• Strong background in mechanical, automotive or Aerospace Engineering gained through work experience or academic study.
• Solid understanding of CAD (preferably NX)
• Modern day Composites experience with exposure to Design & Manufacturing processes (highly desirable)
• Motorsport experience through internships, formula student or personal projects (desirable)
• Proficiency in CAD preferably NX.
• Basic understanding of composites design including material and manufacturing processes
• Effective problem-solving ability
• Strong communication skills
• Positive & proactive Attitude
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
