Our impregnation processes play a crucial role in the production of these high-quality materials. In order to make our processes more reliable, safer and more sustainable and to prepare for future growth, we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer who focuses on the optimization and further development of our impregnation line.
Your role: process optimization, safety and innovation
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will work on the reliability, efficiency and sustainability of the impregnation processes, in which thermoset and thermoplastic materials are processed with solvent-based systems. Production is running at high capacity, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. With a structured and analytical approach, you will help to take the process to a higher level.
You work closely with operators, engineers and R&D to further improve safety (HAZOP, risk assessment) and sustainability of the process. This can range from alternative solvents to improved energy efficiency and process optimizations that contribute to greener production.
In addition, the demand for thermoset-based materials will increase in the coming years. You will play a key role in developing and implementing these processes within our Nijverdal location.
Toray has an international character and we work closely with customers and specialists from different countries. The lines with customers are short, which allows you to switch quickly and have direct influence on the end products that are used worldwide.
An important part of your role is to periodically support production processes at external locations. Approximately twice a year, you will work for a week at a production location where the materials from your process are further processed. This is an essential link to gain insight into how small changes in the process can have major effects on the customer. This not only helps to improve product quality and customer satisfaction, but also provides valuable insights for further optimizations within our own production.
This position is not only focused on immediate improvements, but also on the future: our current process expert will retire in a few years, and we are looking for someone who can develop to play a key role in the team in the long term.
What you actually do:
Analyze and optimize the impregnation line to minimize downtime and errors;
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analyses to implement structural improvements;
Performing HAZOP analyses and risk assessments to ensure process safety;
Contributing to greener and more sustainable production, for example through alternative solvents, more efficient use of energy and raw materials or process optimizations;
Development and implementation of new thermoset processes to expand production capacity in Nijverdal;
Provide periodic support for external production (~2x per year) to evaluate the impact of process changes on the end product and ensure customer satisfaction;
Collaborate with operators, R&D and customers to successfully implement innovations and improvements;
Grow into a key role within the team to ensure future knowledge transfer and continuity.
Who are you?
We are looking for an analytical and solution-oriented engineer with a strong sense of responsibility. As this role involves both chemical processes and machine performance, we are open to different technical backgrounds.
A higher professional or university education, such as chemical technology, process engineering, materials science or mechanical engineering;
Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical process oriented production environment;
Experience with solvent-based processes and process safety (HAZOP, risk assessment);
Analytically strong and problem-solving, you use data to understand and improve processes;
Hands-on mentality, you are regularly on the work floor to better understand processes;
Communicative skills, you work together with operators, engineers and customers;
Good command of Dutch and English, you interact with international colleagues and customers;
Willingness to support external production for one week approximately twice a year and to translate insights into process improvements.
What do we have to offer you?
At Toray Advanced Composites you will work in a pleasant and informal team of hard workers, within an innovative, dynamic and international working environment. The complexity of our products and the dynamics that go with the entire quality process, make the work varied and interesting. Employees are given responsibility and all the space for their own input, personal growth and development.
We supplement this with:
A salary between €4,500 and €5,500 gross per month for a 40-hour working week;
Profit sharing scheme or bonus scheme;
185 hours of leave per year plus an additional 156 ADV hours if you work full-time;
Travel expenses if you live more than 6 km from Nijverdal;
Opportunities for hybrid and flexible working;
Excellent additional arrangements, such as 100% supplement on maternity leave.
Participation in a lease bicycle scheme;
We believe that a fit and vital employee is important, so we offer fresh fruit every day and you can participate in our weekly boot camp!
Are you as good and strong in quality as our products?
