Purpose of the Role: The Licensing and Brand Activation Manager will work closely with the Arrow McLaren IndyCar commercial team and McLaren Racing Licensing team to oversee the creation, promotion and sales of licensed products that reflect Arrow McLaren’s brand as well as the various ways the brand presents itself trackside for competition and commercial purposes. The ideal candidate will be resourceful and solution-driven and will have a strong understanding of licensing agreements, e-commerce, B2B apparel platforms, brand representation, and vendor management coupled with a passion for sports.
Principal Accountabilities:
Licensing Management:
Oversee Arrow McLaren’s licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and protecting intellectual property rights.
Work closely with McLaren Racing’s licensing group to optimize Arrow McLaren within existing and potential licensing partners.
Uphold McLaren Racing’s ways of working and brand standards within all licensing relationships for Arrow McLaren.
Collaborate with licensees to design and develop products that align with the team’s brand identity and standards.
Monitor performance of licensed products and provide insights for optimizing profitability and market presence.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify trends and opportunities for licensing and merchandise opportunities
Marketing Strategy:
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing activation campaigns to enhance brand visibility and revenue through e-commerce, merchandise and at-track opportunities.
Work closely with events and experiences manager to understand hospitality needs at track to deliver on to represent team and partners.
Manage strategy and procurement process for various brand assets for race weekends and other team events.
Vendor and Partner Relations:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with promoters, vendors, licensees, and retail partners.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with promoters and partners to maximize activation and revenue while maintaining quality standards.
Work closely with agencies, promoters and vendors for at-track activations or brand assets to deliver across commercial team marketing campaigns.
Coordinate product launches, marketing campaigns, and in-store promotions in collaboration with partners and internal stakeholders.
Retail and E-commerce Operations:
In conjunction with McLaren Racing and vendors, oversee Arrow McLaren team store operations, both online and at physical locations.
Collaborate with the marketing team to drive traffic and sales through promotional strategies.
Analyze sales data to identify key growth areas and improve customer experience.
Through vendor relationships, manage inventory levels, forecasting demand to ensure optimal stock levels across all channels.
Understand and track all sales analytics across licensing, e-commerce and B2B sales platforms.
Brand Development and Compliance:
Ensure all merchandise and at-track assets align with the team’s (and partners’ as applicable) brand guidelines and values.
Manage the approval process for product designs, packaging, and promotional materials.
Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and consumer preferences to keep the brand competitive and innovative.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in marketing and activations, preferably within the sports or entertainment industry.
Strong understanding of licensing agreements, product development, and retail operations.
Experience with on-site brand activation inclusive of vendor and contract management.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Proficient in data analysis, with experience using inventory management and sales reporting tools.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of building successful partnerships.
Knowledge of current market trends in sports merchandising and consumer behavior.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and other relevant tools.
