About the Role:
A new vacancy has arisen for a CNC machinist/programmer working within our Model Machine Shop. Reporting to the respective shift leader and machine shop manager, the CNC machinist/programmer will be responsible for working alongside our existing team. This will include effectively using Siemens NX CAM software in creating toolpaths for our 3 & 5 axis machines, whilst supporting our machining areas to produce precision machined components for our 60% scale model car prior to wind tunnel testing as well as producing components for various other projects within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily use of 3/5 Axis CNC Machines.
Utilisation of Siemens NX CAM software to create CNC code for 3 Axis and 5 Axis machining centres.
Focus on optimisation of existing CNC Programmes to drive machine tool efficiency.
Providing clear, effective communication across all key stakeholders and shifts.
Ensuring that appropriate process and procedures are adhered to throughout manufacture in order to maintain high quality.
Dynamic and capable in meeting deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
Must possess a continuous improvement mind-set and be able to create a positive profile for themselves and the department.
To be successful, you will have:
Have served a recognised apprenticeship and hold the relevant qualifications.
A proven background of setting and operating CNC machines and a strong skill set around CAD / CAM with a focus on CNC code generation for 3 and 5 axis machining centres for the manufacture of precision components within a quality focused, fast paced environment.
Experience of recognised Cam systems is essential and previous experience of Siemens NX CAD/CAM and Vericut would be highly advantageous as well as a general IT competency.
You will possess effective communication skills and will have the ability to remain focused under pressure. You will be able to demonstrate a process mind-set with the capability for logically solving complex problems.
You will be resilient and professional with a belief in the concept of Continuous Improvement, excellent attention to detail and knowledge of quality systems including ISO-9001.
You will be energetic with a strong work ethic and customer focus.
Flexibility in hours and a can-do approach is required, along with the ability to work in a team, under pressure and to strict deadlines with minimum supervision.
