About the Role:
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity to be part of the Performance Department at Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix. As a key member of the Controls group, you will leverage cutting-edge simulations to explore and enhance control system performance, directly contributing to the success of our race cars.
Key Accountabilities (Duties):
Developing innovative control algorithms to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Creating and maintaining simulation models to assess and optimize control system performance.
Validating simulation results by ensuring accuracy and correlation with track and rig data.
Utilizing optimization techniques to support calibration and fine-tuning of systems.
Introducing new technologies, ideas, and methodologies to continuously advance our control system simulation capabilities.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
A Master's or PhD from a top-tier university in fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
Advanced proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow, with strong expertise in model-based design.
A solid foundation in numerical methods, classical mechanics, and multi-body dynamics.
Strong knowledge of state-space methods, modern control/estimation theory, and numerical techniques.
A methodical, data-driven approach to problem-solving, using a range of tools and data sources.
This role is ideal for professionals with significant experience in high-performance industries, eager to take their expertise to the next level.
Desirable:
Hands-on experience with real-time control system platforms (e.g., dSPACE, Beckhoff, Speedgoat).
Proficiency with multi-body engineering tools such as Modelica and SimScape.
In-depth knowledge of transmissions, vehicle dynamics, and power units.
Familiarity with non-linear programming techniques and optimal control.
