The FIA Electronics Department leads the digital transformation through electronics and data systems. Within this department, the F1 Data Intelligence Group focuses on designing, building and deploying the data analysis platform that enables more effective real-time decisions trackside and allows data-driven design of future sporting and technical regulations. We seek result-driven, proactive people, who are passionate about building software solutions that address problems by transforming how engineers use data and technology. They must have a desire to innovate in a collaborative atmosphere, as part of a growing team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the unique and inspiring motor sport environment. The position will be based at our headquarters in Geneva and will involve some travel to Formula 1 championship events.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
The missions of the F1 Data Scientist revolve around extracting insight from multiple data sources and designing, building and deploying capabilities that let users access, visualise and interact with the results. Your work will involve large and diverse sources of data such as time series, video, audio, text, tabular data, etc. To accomplish this, the F1 Data Scientist will be involved in all stages of the product life cycle: idea generation, user interviews, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping and iteration.
Data Modelling

Develop machine learning models and advanced analytics tools that can provide further insights for decision-making.

Further develop the current FIA data analytics tool suite to optimise our remote and on-track support operations and migrate from historical analysis to real-time analysis.

Liaise with different engineering units to understand their needs, identify new opportunities and develop solutions that improve operational efficiency.
Data Visualisation

Empower stakeholders across the organisation with advanced data visualisation mediums tailored to user needs.

Collaborate with the Data Intelligence Group on the mission to homogenise data collection and processing across units and establish a common FIA data format.
Latest Technology Watch

Stay up to date with state-of-the-art models, especially on time series treatment and the multi-modality area.

Stay up to date on the latest open-source projects that can enhance user experience or operational efficiency.
PROFILE:
-
Bachelor or master’s degree or equivalent expert level in computer science, data science or similar discipline.

Significant experience developing clean and efficient software in Python. Experience with object oriented languages is appreciated.

Significant experience with data wrangling libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, Dask and Spark.

Significant experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as Sklearn, SciPy, XGBoost and Pytorch.

Experience with computer vision and speech recognition libraries is highly appreciated.

Experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI or custom-made tools that allow stakeholders to consult data in a user-friendly environment.

Experience with SQL and No-SQL databases.

Experience with collection and storage of large-scale high-frequency time series is a plus.

Experience with cloud technologies is not required but highly appreciated.

Ability to learn continuously and work autonomously. Be comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and fast iteration with users.

Native or fluent English speaker. Proficiency in another European language would be a plus
