We are looking for a V6 Performance Development Engineer to help deliver World Championship winning cars year on year.
Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be integrated within the ICE Thermodynamics Department of Red Bull Powertrains. Tasked to deliver the maximum performance potential to the podium, your group will work closely with all teams within Red Bull Powertrains. To be successful you must lead the efficient and effective development investigations with absolute tenacity, to deliver maximum performance and flawless reliability, from concept to podium. Experience of high power-output racing engine thermodynamic development is advantageous.
Key responsibilities of the successful candidate:
- Identify, specify, carry out, and post-process thermodynamic development testing on components and systems, as directed by the Head of Thermodynamics
- Work closely and cohesively with the other members of the Department on the development of components and systems, and ensure tools are suitable for accurately measuring their physical behaviour
- Develop new methods and techniques in order to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of thermodynamic development testing, as directed by Head of Thermodynamics
Experience & attributes required for this role:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Experience in F1 hybrid power unit design is advantageous but high-performance racing engine experience or involvement in high-performance R&D projects is a pre-requisite
- A high level of Mechanical Engineering competence in both technical and practical applications
- A thorough understanding of performance thermodynamics and its contribution to on track performance
- Proven history of successful fault investigation, containment and rectification
- Practical knowledge of engine testing methodologies
- Passion for innovation, can-do attitude, and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, reacting to changing priorities and scope while meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships across the Red Bull Technology Campus
