Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motor sport and industrial markets. Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, PC/ABS, HDPE, and PP.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Environmental, Health, & Safety Specialist II is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the overall health and safety of employees. The EHS Specialist II is responsible for working in a wide range of EHS disciplines while ensuring laws and regulations are followed regarding hazardous waste, material and mitigate environmental risks. This person should have a passion for Environmental, Health and Safety; a strong desire to serve others in an EHS capacity, and work closely with the different people involved (employees, supervisors, technical staff, sub-contractors, etc.) in order to ensure safe working practices that comply with laws and standards.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, plans, and procedures.
Interface with various regulatory agencies while hosting, documenting, responding to and tracking audits and inspections.
Maintain HMBP and SDS's.
Create, maintain and develop the hazard waste minimization plan over Thermoset and Thermoplastic
Support the mitigation of environmental risks by interfacing with Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies on permitting and related issues
Ensure annual update of Hazardous Material Business plan are updated and maintained
Responsible for managing waste streams and understanding hazardous waste disposal and transportation regulations and requirements, including interpreting and ensuring compliance with environmental and transportation laws and regulations.
Review and maintain records of materials and chemicals used in manufacturing and R&D facilities.
Responsible for matters related to environmental permitting (air, water, waste), safety, compliance monitoring, reporting, and auditing.
Monitor, measure, and maintain key data and report performance of key environmental metrics.
Support as need daily safety inspections (productions areas, labs, warehouse, shipping and receiving)
Support as need weekly inspection for hazardous waste on satellite areas and track the hazardous waste manifests
Support as need monthly inspections in the storm water and water sampling in the storm drains (4 events per year)
Develop and maintain corrective actions regarding Accident Investigations
Identify risky behaviors within the organization and take appropriate action
Ensure the wellbeing of employees in the workplace by providing employee safe working methods
Increase, promote and develop awareness by providing formal and informal training opportunities related to EHS
Conducts EHS-related training as needed (e.g., Hazcom, Hazardous Waste, different Safety topics, etc.)
Develop and coordinate emergency response procedures.
Main point of contact for performing Ergonomic Assessments
Drive continuous improvement programs
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree or equivalent experience, bachelor’s degree in EHS discipline or relevant to safety is preferred
At least 3 year of experience in EHS
Manufacturing or composites experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of CAL-OSHA regulations, EPA, HMBP, SWPPP and other related EHS regulations
Experienced in Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies and requirements.
EH&S Certification in one or more specific fields is preferred (OSHA, Ergonomic, etc.)
Practical, hands-on experience with the following: Electrical/High Voltage Safety, Compliance
Experience with emergency preparedness and crisis management
Proven ability to update and develop safety and environmental procedures
Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
Comfortable interfacing and developing professional relationships with internally and externally personnel
Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
Ability to solve practical problems and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
