SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
As a entry level Production Technician I at Toray, the technician will support the production department by assisting the senior level operators. Duties include learning Toray’s quality standard by understanding how to check for defects and hourly checks of the machine. Entry technician will review the quality process and should be able to identify quality issues with oversight from senior technicians. Additionally, the technician will package rolls and obtain raw materials and packaging supplies. As time progresses, the technician should be able to follow detailed instructions and work under close supervision to complete allocated tasks. Tasks would include set up of the machine with full oversight, be able to prioritize routine tasks to improve efficiency, and troubleshoot minor production-related issues. Also, the technician must be able to follow procedures which include use of personal protection equipment (where relevant) to safeguard themselves, other employees, and the work environment. Entry level Production Technician I will be trained and expected to dispose of hazardous waste safely in the proper area. MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Operations:
Follow instructions and work under close supervision to complete the allocated tasks.
With oversight, set up and operate machine for advanced composite materials
Escalates equipment and production issues by notifying Lead/Supervisor
Quality:
Understand how to check for defects on the line
Hourly checks of the machine
Review/understand the quality process and identify quality issues with senior oversight.
Safety
Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment)
Dispose hazardous waste in proper area
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Other:
Preparation (wrapping and labeling) of the product for processing, loading and unloading product from the equipment
Perform other duties as assigned by Lead/Supervisor or designee
Movement and lifting (approx. 551bs) of materials
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
0 to 1 year of experience working with composites or productions department
Strong mechanical aptitude
Math and basic computer skills required (Math test is given during interview)
Ability to convert grams to pounds
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation
Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
Able to work and communicate as a team
Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs
Must be clean shaven in order to wear PPE/Respirator
Excellent attendance: ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when needed
