POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Mid-Level Design/ Development Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in our defense prototyping and production division. While our organization is known for excellence across various industries, this role is focused exclusively on our defense projects rather than motorsport or racing-related endeavors. In this position, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative design solutions. Collaborating with senior engineers, junior engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams, you will help shape advanced products and systems that drive our success.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with senior engineers and business development teams to interpret project requirements and align with design goals.
- Leverage experience in tooling and fixturing to support design and manufacturing processes.
- Rapidly assess engineering concepts across multiple disciplines to determine feasibility.
- Create detailed technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and specifications optimized for rugged and demanding environments.
- Contribute innovative ideas during product design reviews to enhance functionality and performance.
- Conduct thorough research to collect technical data and support informed design decisions.
- Apply expertise with vehicle systems, including structural, mechanical, and thermal components, to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Perform engineering analyses, including finite element analysis (FEA), to meet project objectives.
- Support prototype development and testing, documenting results and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to seamlessly integrate electrical systems into vehicle designs, addressing considerations like space, weight, and thermal efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns, supporting their professional and technical development.
- Maintain organized and accurate design documentation, ensuring easy access and reliability.
- Excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent changes in priorities and scope.
- Adhere to ISO and PPAP quality standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant industry regulations.
Skills & Abilities
- Proven leadership experience demonstrated through previous professional projects.
- Adaptable and able to excel in diverse roles as needed to meet project demands.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 5–10 years of professional experience in the field is required.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in CAD software, with a preference for Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), particularly using Ansys, is highly desirable.
- ITAR Compliance: This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.
