Desired Job Role:
Formula One, Indy Car, WRC, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis, Manufacturing, Apprenticeships, Mechanical Engineering, Aerodynamics, Composites, Structural Engineering, CFD, Race Engineer / Pit Crew
Experience:
I completed my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minho in July 2024. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Energy and Environmental Technologies, also at the University of Minho. I am an active member of the University of Minho's Formula Student team (FSUMinho), where I contribute to the development of a formula student race car designed and built by engineering students. This experience has been crucial in enhancing my skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and the application of technical knowledge. I was responsible for the design and prototyping of the front and rear quick jacks, with the rear quick jack incorporating a push bar. Additionally, I was also responsible for the design and prototyping of the firewall.
I have completed two summer internships that significantly expanded my professional experience. The first internship was at Preh Group in July 2023, where I closely followed the automotive industry, specifically in manufacturing. I learned about production processes and participated in decision-making that directly impacts the final product. The second internship was at HidroCNT - Grupo Casais in August 2023, where I developed skills in software such as Revit and AutoCAD, and deepened my knowledge in project design and conception, hydraulic installations including water supply, sanitation, rainwater systems, pools, and water treatment, HVAC systems installations, and firefighting and smoke control networks installations.
In September 2024, together with friends and members of FSUMinho, I will have the opportunity to represent our team at the Formula Student Portugal event, which will take place in the city of Castelo Branco.
The Formula Student Portugal event will offer the advantage of deepening my knowledge in the motorsport field, specifically in the design and manufacturing of a formula car. It will also provide valuable experience in understanding what the world of motorsport is truly like.
